Privacy policy

This policy explains how Helio Lending Pty Ltd (ABN 24 626 131 440 · Australian Credit Licence 566090) ("Helio", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use our website, heliolending.com, and the Helio Wallet app. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and other privacy laws that apply to you.

1. What we never collect

We never collect or store your wallet's recovery phrase or private keys. Nobody from Helio will ever ask for them. If someone does, it's a scam.

2. What we collect

• Identity information when you verify your account: your name, date of birth, address, government ID documents, and similar details needed for identity checks.
• Contact information: your email address and phone number.
• Loan and payment information: your loan applications and agreements, collateral and repayment records, and the bank account or wallet address you choose for payouts.
• Transaction information: swaps and loan-related transfers made through the app, and public wallet addresses linked to your account.
• Device and usage information from the app, such as device type, operating system, IP address and app activity, used for security and fraud prevention.
• Messages you send us by email or through support.

3. Our website

Our website has no sign-up forms or logins. The website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser shares its IP address with Google when you visit. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security.

4. How we use your information

• To open and run your account and provide the wallet, swaps and loans
• To verify your identity and meet anti-money-laundering, counter-terrorism financing and sanctions laws
• To assess, make and service loans, including holding and returning collateral
• To prevent fraud and protect the security of our Services
• To answer your questions and send you important notices about your account
• To send you product news, only where the law allows. You can opt out at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only when needed:

• Identity verification providers that check your identity documents for us
• SALT Lending, if you ask us to submit a loan application to SALT through our partner program
• Banks and payment providers, to send loan payouts and receive repayments
• Service providers that host, secure or support our Services, bound to protect your information
• Regulators, law enforcement and courts, when the law requires it
• A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or merged, under the same protections

6. Overseas transfers

We are based in Australia and also operate in the United States. Your information may be stored or processed in Australia, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected wherever it is held.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open and for as long as the law requires afterwards. Identity and transaction records are generally kept for at least 7 years after your relationship with us ends, as anti-money-laundering laws require.

8. Security

We protect your information with technical, physical and organisational safeguards, including encryption and restricted access. No system is completely secure, so please protect your devices and never share your recovery phrase.

9. Your rights

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights, such as asking us to delete information we're not required to keep. Email contact@heliolending.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity first.

10. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to the privacy regulator where you live.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top.
